The Police in Busoga North Region are investigating a serious case of Aggravated Defilement and Aggravated Trafficking which occurred in Bulunga Village, Butansi Parish, Butansi Sub-county, Kamuli District.
According to Samson Lubega, the Busoga North region police spokesperson, the case was reported at Kamuli Police Station.
He says the victim is a three-year-old female child, while the suspect has been identified as Samuel Mugabi, 21-year-old peasant and resident of Bulunga Village who was also a neighbor.
Preliminary findings indicate that on 13th October 2025 at around 2:00 pm, Sarah Namugabi complainant/ neighbor heard distressed sounds from the suspect’s house. Upon checking, she allegedly found the suspect in suspicious circumstances with the child victim.
Lubega says the matter was immediately reported to local authorities, who referred it to the Police for further action.
He says statements were recorded from key witnesses and a medical examination of the victim and recovered relevant exhibits done.
The forensic samples, including vaginal swabs and the suspect’s clothing have been submitted to the Directorate of Government Analytical Laboratory (DGAL) for analysis. The suspect was arrested and is currently in custody pending further investigation
He says as police, they strongly condemn such acts of sexual violence against children.
“We assure the public that a thorough investigation is underway, and the suspect will be charged in court upon completion of inquiries,” he says.
