The National Unity Platform Flagbearer for Bukedea Woman Member of Parliament race has broken silence on her failed nomination which was widely attributed to a kidnap allegedly by agents of her opponent, the Rt. Hon. Speaker of Parliament, Anita Among.
Florence Asio in a video circulating on Social Media and recorded on Sunday, 26th October, 2025 says she was not abducted as alleged by her Party.
“I was not kidnapped as alleged by my party leadership. I pulled out of Bukedea Woman MP race due to family pressure, being it that I am a daughter to the Rt Hon. Speaker,” Anitah Among says Asio.
She explains that her candidature came abruptly and her family was not in the know, so after her unveiling, family members put pressure on her not to contest against the Speaker.
“At first, I took it lightly, however the pressure became too much and I could not take it anymore,” she says.
Speaker Among was declared unopposed after no other aspirant showed up for nominations.
