The Managing Director of Kamoga property Consultants, Hajji Muhammad Kamoga has gone into hiding following issuance of several warrants of arrest by Entebbe Chief Magistrates Court.
Sources close to him told this reporter that it’s now two months ever since the beleaguered tycoon fled his posh home in Nalugala village, Katabi Town Council, Wakiso district.
His disappearance from the Entebbe home has generated hot debates in the area and locals have started betting on whether he will return to Entebbe or not, given the multiple cases he has in several courts of Judicature.
The Entebbe senior Grade one Magistrate, His Worship Edgar Tibayeita Tumusiime has on several occasions issued criminal summons plus warrants of arrest ordering any uniformed police officer to apprehend and produce Kamoga before his court whether dead or live.
Embattled Kamoga is accused of forging a practicing certificate, signature, and official stamp of lawyer Lorna Nkamwesiga in order to fraudulently acquire 200 acres of land in Garuga village in Katabi Town Council, Wakiso district.
Tycoon Kamoga who is said to have lost public trust because of having a number of legal battles related to land, also faces a number of charges including obtaining land registration through false pretense and uttering forged documents.
A few months ago, the hearing of the criminal case against tycoon Kamoga failed to take off after Kamoga, through his lawyers led by Mr Brian Tindyebwa, informed court that his client was not present in court because he was admitted over heart related illnesses.
Counsel Tindyebwa presented medical documents before court saying Kamoga sent them through one of his sureties-Tony Walugembe.
The trial Magistrate then directed the state attorney to verify the ill-health claims byKamoga, after he failed to appear in court regarding the ongoing case related to land fraud.
The court decision came after submissions in which the State Attorney Paul, Byamukama Aheebwa vehemently objected to the long adjournment asked by Kamoga through his lawyers, who reported to court that he (Kamoga) was unwell and admitted at Nakasero Hospital.
Meanwhile, Katabi Town Council Mayor Ronald Kalema Basamurekere, risk arrest after he has failed to produce Kamoga before court yet it’s the duty of the surety to remind the accused person to report for Court bail.
