The Ministry of Works and Transport has announced that the Laropi Ferry Services connecting Adjumani to Moyo districts shall temporarily be closed effective 10th November, 2025.
This was revealed in a press statement dated Monday, November 03, 2025 signed by the Ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Bageya Waiswa.

According to Bageya, the temporary closure is to allow the Ministry carry out periodic maintenance aimed at improving the reliability and safety of the Laropi Ferry as a stop gap measure ahead of the planned comprehensive repair rehabilitation.
“Therefore, the Ferry Services along the Laropi-Umi route will be suspended from 10th to 28th November, 2025 to allow our technical team undertake the necessary maintenance interventions,” reads the statement partly.
Users of the Laropi Ferry are advised to use the alternative route by road through Kampala-Moyo district-Yumbe – Kboko – Arua – Karuma – Gulu – Atiak – Adjumani district and Kampala – Moyo – Obongi – MV Obongi Ferry to Adjumani district.
