Uganda Revenue Authority has named Tan Telecoms, Krishma Industries Limited, Nile Vocational Institute Limited, Pilgrim, and JH Agro More Africa Limited for being the most compliant taxpayers in the region in the non-individual category.
This was revealed during the recent Eastern Regional Taxpayers’ Appreciation Awards Dinner held at Mbale Resort Hotel on Thursday 6th November 2025.
Delivering a message from URA Commissioner General John Musinguzi Rujoki, the Assistant Commissioner for Tax Education, Nalongo Myra Ochwo, described compliant taxpayers as “architects of Uganda’s journey to self-sufficiency.”
“This dinner is more than a ceremony—it is a statement of national gratitude,” Musinguzi said. “Every compliant taxpayer represented here is an innovator, producer, and entrepreneur who keeps Uganda’s economy alive. Development is a shared responsibility, and every payment made in good faith—no matter how small—is a patriotic act that reflects trust in our systems and faith in our country.”
Musinguzi revealed that in the just-concluded financial year, Uganda mobilized UGX 3.16 trillion in taxes—surpassing the national revenue target. He said the achievement demonstrates growing public trust and compliance among taxpayers.
He added that under the URA 2025–2030 Corporate Strategy, the Authority has shifted its approach from tax collection to tax collaboration, focusing on fairness, digital innovation, and citizen engagement.
“We want every taxpayer to feel seen, heard, and supported. Our promise is to make compliance simpler, faster, and more transparent. URA should be seen not as an enforcer, but as a trusted partner in progress and prosperity,” he said.
The event, held under the theme “Together Building Uganda,” also recognized outstanding taxpayers in Eastern Uganda who have demonstrated high levels of compliance, transparency, and consistency in fulfilling their tax obligations.
In the individual category, awards went to Mr. Nissit Patel, Ms. Rebecca Kwagala, Mr. Jesangbhai Chaudaria Velebhai, Mr. Jayant Patel, and Mr. Kalondo Moses.
Mbale Resident District Commissioner Bayole Stanley urged taxpayers to view themselves as the foundation of Uganda’s growth, noting that public services are made possible through their contributions.
“Uganda cannot stand without taxes. We are what we are as a government because of your existence and compliance,” Bayole said. “People in hospitals are treated because of your taxes; the tarmac roads you travel on, the streetlights in towns, schools, and salaries—all are funded by taxes. The government is you. If you refuse to pay taxes, these services would not exist.”
