BUTEBO
A one-year-old boy, Godfrey Ngai, son to Ronald Byansi lost his life in a tragic accident in Kapunyasi village, Butebo district, on November 11, 2025.
The incident occurred when a vehicle, registration number UPB 978P, driven by an unidentified person, was loading bricks in the village.
According to eyewitnesses, the vehicle got stuck in the mud and workers were pushing it out. Children were playing nearby, and as the vehicle suddenly moved forward, it hit and killed the toddler instantly.
Alfred Kyempasa, the Bukedi North region police spokesperson, says that police investigations are ongoing, with reports attributing the cause to reckless driving.
He says the body has been taken to the mortuary for post-mortem, and statements are being recorded from witnesses while the vehicle has been impounded and taken to Butebo central police station.
