The National Resistance Movement party (NRM) Presidential Flag bearer, General Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has assured the people of Tororo that the issue of the new administrative units only awaits operationalization.
President Museveni made the promise while addressing a mammoth crowd at Tororo Lions Children’s Park during his campaign tour on Friday, 14th November, 2025.
“I concluded my long day in Tororo where their leaders reminded me about the long standing district status issues. On our side, those matters were concluded. I will check with the Attorney General so the final legal steps are completed,” President Museveni writes on his X-Handle.
The issue was raised by John Okea, the Tororo district NRM Chairperson who reminded the President that since the creation of the units earlier this year, they have not been operationalized.
In September, 2025, districts of Mulanda, Nagongera and Mukuju plus Tororo City were created from Tororo district.
In response, Museveni noted that the districts were approved and any pending procedures to the same have been expedited.
Meanwhile, on development, Museveni says government has funded the Tororo- Nagongera- Kisoko –Busulwe- Busaba road, and work on the Busia Tororo road is ongoing.
On the Health side, Malaba, Iyolwa and Paaya will become Health Centre IVs, and several Health Centre IIs will be lifted so that the sub counties without facilities are covered.
“On education, I again emphasised that school fees in government schools must stop because they push children out. Peace and stability have enabled this progress, and they remain the foundation of our work going forward,” says President Museveni.
