FULL LIST! President Museveni Pardons 143 Prisoners

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has in accordance to Article 121 (a) 4 of the Constitution of Uganda granted pardon to 143 prisoners.

President Museveni made the directive to the Commissioner of Prisons through the Attorney General in a letter dated 13^th November, 2025.

In response, the Prisons Services has today, 19^th November, 2025 confirmed the release of the 143 prisoners in a press statement signed by SCP Frank Baine, the Prisons Services Spokesperson.

Baine says that on recommendation by the Prerogative of Mercy Committee, the 143 prisoners pardoned were petty offenders.
