The Electoral Commission has given the latest updates regarding the 2026 General Elections Roadmap.

 

Addressing the press today, Wednesday, 26th November, 2025, the EC Chairperson, Justice Simon Mugenyi Byabakama says the total number of registered voters is 21,681,491.

 

Out of this number, women outnumber men as they are 11,347,129 (eleven million three hundred and forty-seven thousand one hundred and twenty-nine) translating into 53 percent of registered voters.

 

Meanwhile registered males are 10,334,362 (ten million three hundred and thirty-four thousand three hundred and sixty-two) representing 47 percent.

 

Number of districts 146, number of Counties is 312 with 353 constituencies.

 

Sub Counties/ Towns/Municipal Divisions are 2,191 with 10,717 parishes, 71,214 villages with 50,739 polling stations.

 

 

Byabakama says the Electoral Commission will shortly commence issuance of Voter Location Slips (VLS) to the voters across the country to enable them conveniently locate their respective polling stations on polling day.

 

“We are directing EC staff, especially the Parish Supervisors, under the supervision of Sub county supervisors and District Election Administrators to make sure that every voter gets his or her Voter Location Slip,” he says.

 

He also reveals that the contract to print ballot papers for Presidential, Directly-elected Member of Parliament, District Woman Representatives to Parliament, District/City Chairpersons, District/City Directly-elected Councillors and District/City Woman Councillors has been awarded to Al Ghurair Printing & Publishing LLC, Dubai UAE.

 

Ballot papers for Sub County/Town/Municipal Division Chairpersons are being printed by UniPrint (SA), Durban, South Africa.

 

Meanwhile, the contract to print ballot papers for Sub-County/Town/Municipal Division Directly-elected Councillors is awarded to Inform Lykos (Hellos), Athens, Greece.

 

 

Sintel Security, a Kenyan based company is printing ballot papers for Councillors representing Special Interest Groups at the District; City; Municipality; Sub County; Town; Municipal Division; Local Governments

 

 

Picfare Industries Ltd, Kampala Uganda prints ballots for Municipality/City Division Chairpersons and Women Councillors and Graphics Systems Ltd., Kampala, Uganda prints ballots for Municipality/City Division Directly-Elected Councillors.
