Police has arrested a Soroti City resident for allegedly knocking to death a 12 year old girl at Nakibwe village, Kituti sub-county, Kibuku district, on November 29, 2025.
According to Wilfred Kyempasa, the Bukedi North Region Police Spokesperson, Zephaniah Opio, a resident of Kichinjaji Zone, in Soroti City was arrested over the death of Namukose Hadija.
Kyempasa accuses Opio of causing the accident by reckless driving and over-speeding which resulted in him knocking the deceased while she was crossing the Tirinyi-Pallisa road.
The accident involved a speeding Subaru XV vehicle (UA 532BH) driven by Opio.
Kyempasa says Opio is currently in police custody, and investigations are ongoing. The vehicle has been parked at Kibuku CPS pending inspection, and the body of the deceased has been taken to the parents’ home for burial.
