MBARARA
Peter Mpaka, who withdrew from the Mbarara City North parliamentary race, and Mark Itogooro Nyabihemu, the former NUP mayoral candidate for Mbarara City, have both left the National Unity Platform (NUP).
They were officially unveiled to President Museveni at the Golf course grounds in Booma Cell, Mbarara City on Monday, 1st December, 2025.
The two have told the president that they joined NUP expecting financial support for their campaigns and political activities, but were disappointed, which prompted their move to the National Resistance Movement (NRM).
Meanwhile, former NUP member and independent candidate for the Pece Laroo constituency, Ceaser Rubangakene, has written to the Electoral Commission to withdraw from the race.
