Ateker Cup of Nations to Be Hosted In Ngora District

The management of Ateker cup of Nations has confirmed the third edition of the tournament.

 

This was confirmed by the Chief Executive Officer, Isaac Olupot during a media interaction in Ngora district recently.

 

According to Olupot, the tournament of the third edition will kick off Next year 2026 after verification that is going to take place starting with verification of players on 26-29 December 2025 in Ngora district.

 

“Ngora district as being champions of the Ateker was selected to host the tournament after winning the cup in Lodwar City, Turkana County, Kenya,” Olupot said.

 

The tournament that was played for four days was the first ever Ateker cup of nations. It featured 26 teams from Ethiopia, Kenya, Uganda and South Sudan and aims to use sport to spur development among the Ateker.

 

Ateker is a common name for closely related Karamojong, Turkana, Toposa, Nyangatom and Teso peoples from different countries who share a similar language.
