The Bukedi North region has today Monday officially launched a ten-day training program for police constables, aimed at deploying them to polling stations across the region for the 2026 general election.
Speaking to the media at the launch event this afternoon held at St John Baptist Secondary School in Pallisa district, Wilfred Kyempasa, the Bukedi North region Police spokesperson, emphasized the importance of professionalism and discipline among the trainees, both during and after the election period.
Kyempasa confirmed that the officers will be employed on a contract basis, specifically for the election period, and will be demobilized thereafter.
H says a total of 2,286 officers are undergoing training, and will be deployed to their respective districts.
In a related development, training has already commenced yesterday on Sunday at Nabumali High School located at Nabumali town council in Mbale district for the Elgon region.
