Minister for Justice and Constitutional Affairs, Norbert Mao has clarified on reports that he was involved in an accident reported in Bombo on Sunday evening, saying he only stopped to help the victims.
In a statement issued on Sunday 8th December 2025, Mao said he had received numerous calls expressing concern about his wellbeing following the incident along the Kampala–Gulu highway in Kalule, Bombo, Luweero District.
The crash involved a head-on collision between a lorry and a security vehicle escorting Minister of State for Defense and Veterans Affairs, Huda Oleru.
Mao said that together with his security team, other motorists and residents, they rescued the injured soldiers from the wreckage and the injured rushed to Bombo Military Hospital for further management.
Two soldiers lost their lives with one dying on spot while the other was pronounced dead on arrival at Bombo Military hospital.
However, Hon. Huda Oleru’s vehicle was not affected by the accident.
Mao expressed gratitude to those who helped at the scene and confirmed that Defense Minister Jacob Oboth Oboth had instructed medical teams to respond immediately.
