BUTALEJA
The Police in Butaleja district have arrested a witchdoctor known as Isimah Were in connection with human sacrifice.
The suspect is a resident of Bubbinge village, Nawanjofu Sub County in Butaleja district, suspected to have killed a 4 year old Karim Wandage and dumped the remains in the neighboring tree plantation.
Police says the suspect was arrested after a police Sniffer dog “Vegas”, controlled by Michael Bijuho and Moses Mutibwa from Tororo central Police station tracked the scent to the suspect’s shrine.
He further disclosed that the slain’s blood stains were found in the suspect’s shrines and in his bathroom. He was into hiding at the time of operation, but was tracked later after a scuffle between the police with the angry residents who wanted to burn his houses and kill his household members before coming out.
Karim Wandage’s body was found on Tuesday morning with rotting private parts that were visibly mutilated raising suspicion that he was sacrificed, murdered and body dumped in the tree plantation.
Elukana Musugusi, the LC1 of Bubbinge A, Nawanjofu sub county, says that he was informed about the tragedy by Abdul Malik, the garden owner, flanked by his watchman.
He condemned the action urging district leaders to do an operation on witchdoctors to identify fake ones.
