Gov’t Organizes Inaugural Refugee, Host Communities Exhibition

In an effort to promote Economic empowerment, Entrepreneurship and self-reliance among refugees and host Communities, the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Cooperatives has organized the refugees exhibition scheduled for 12-14 Dec 2025 at Motiv grounds Bugolobi.

 

According to the Commissioner in charge of  Internal Trade, Ministry of Trade, Industry and Cooperatives, Kalega Zackey, the 1st ever refugees exhibition will be held under the theme “Exhibiting Innovations, and value addition products by refugees and host Communities for business opportunities and policy reforms”.

 

Kalega who represented the minister for trade industry and Cooperatives Francis Mwebesa thanked the office of the Prime Minister, United High Commissioner for Refugees and the private sector for supporting the exhibition.

 

The representative for the private sector and civil society NGO’s and development partners Musooki Lillian Maate said the exhibition has come at a critical time when the humanitarian assistance has come down dramatically like food cuts among others.

 

Musooki said the three days exhibition will showcase innovations and value added products produced by the entrepreneurs who are the refugees.

 

She noted that the private sector will provide self-reliance innovations, creative industry, food and agriculture, financial assistance and renewable energy.

 

Musooki further added that as private sector they want to see the dignity of the refugees not just as beggars but as people with skills and innovations and who are able to contribute to Uganda’s Economy.
