Residents of Busaba Town Council in Butaleja district have gained access to clean water thanks to GOAL, a non-governmental organization.

The organization has installed a borehole water system, pumped by electricity, which will supply over 200 households in the area.

The project, costing approximately 200 million shillings, aims to provide clean water for drinking and domestic use, reducing the risk of waterborne diseases like cholera.

A GOAL officer, who preferred anonymity, during the launch on Thursday, 11th December, 2025 stated that the organization plans to extend the water supply to neighboring sub-counties in the future. Residents will pay a monthly fee of 10,000 shillings to access the clean water.

Salim Gamusi, the LCIII Busaba town council, revealed that GOAL initially faced resistance from citizens who objected to connecting pipes to Bugwera and Nahagulu boreholes.

However, the NGO plans to tap excess water from these sources to supplement the supply.

Beneficiaries, including Peter Were and Samuel Wamaya, expressed their gratitude, stating that they have been struggling to access clean water.
