Police has with the help of its Canine Unit, arrested five prime suspects in the theft of cattle belonging to two neighbors at Kajule village, Sukusuku Parish, Maizimasa sub-county, Butebo district.
According to Alfred Kyempasa, the Bukedi North region police spokesperson, the theft occurred on the night of Sunday, 14th December, 2025.
He says the trio broke into the kraals of a one Muloni Mhalon, a retired police officer where they took two cows valued at Shs3.7M and that of Janguya Amos, 53 year old peasant where they took three cows valued at Shs5M.
The five cows were slaughtered in a garden near the Kabwangasi Maizimaza road in Kajule village.
The thefts were noticed in the wee hours of Monday, prompting the two to report to Kabwangasi Police post vide: CRB 072/2025.
Butebo District police commander led the response team to that village and introduced a Canine at the scene that led to the arrest of three suspects; James Owuma, Samuel Odake and one only known as Juma.
The suspects are currently being detained at Butebo Central police station as Investigations are ongoing but no animal has yet been discovered.
