KAMPALA, UGANDA – In a landmark victory for technology-led policing, a six-year-old boy, Mpirwe Tumwesigye Abraham, was successfully rescued from kidnappers on Friday, December 19, 2025. The operation, hailed as a “masterclass in modern investigation,”
While traditional search operations commenced immediately upon the report of the child’s disappearance from Kawempe Division, the deployment of Digital Intelligence was brought the breakthrough.
Marvin Kashaija Blessed, Director of the CSFAU and a Certified Digital Forensics Expert, assisted investigators by sharing the kid missing Notice to all the social Media Platforms, and deploying advanced digital trace analysis and proprietary forensic tools.
By analyzing movement patterns and digital signatures invisible to the naked eye, the CSFAU team worked hand in hand with the Uganda Police Forensic Department to provide the critical intelligence needed to pinpoint the suspect’s location in Wakiso District, leading to the child’s safe recovery.
During the formal handover at Nsambya Police Health Services, SP Kawala Rachael, Kampala Metropolitan Police (KMP) Spokesperson, emphasized the vital role of these new capabilities while issuing a stern advisory to the public.
“While our forensic teams are capable of tracing these suspects, prevention starts at home. It is vital to conduct thorough background checks on domestic helpers before trusting them with your children,” stated SP Kawala.
The emotional climax of the day, saw Mpirwe’s mother expressing her profound relief and gratitude for the technical intervention. “I am deeply grateful to H.E. The President for his leadership in securing our country, and I especially thank the Digital Forensics Experts and the Police for using their amazing skills to trace my son and bring him back to me,” she said.
Kashaija positioned the event as a turning point in national defense. “This wasn’t just a rescue; it was a deployment of digital sovereignty,” stated Kashaija.
“To protect our citizens in 2026 and beyond, we must treat the digital realm as a front line, to protect our Country from External and Internal Cyber Threats. We are no longer just technicians; we are Cyber War Fighters defending the safety of our homes from the shadows of the internet,” he emphasizes.
Kashaija further emphasized that the CSFAU’s success highlights the urgent need to scale “home-grown” talent to bridge the technical gap within national security and provide expert forensic assistance in criminal investigations on a global scale.
