Police in Budaka are investigating a cattle theft case involving eight heads of cattle stolen from Gadumire village, Budaka district. The incident was reported on December 21, 2025, by Kisale Deo, a resident of the village.

According to Fredrick Kyempasa, the Bukedi North region police spokesperson, the stolen cows were slaughtered in a nearby cassava garden, and the carcasses were abandoned near the Mbale-Kampala highway.

He says that a sniffer dog led police to the house of Karim Mukonera, where they recovered three pairs of gumboots with cow dung, cooked meat, and a ram’s head.

Kyempasa adds that a vehicle (UAT 474 R Raum) was also recovered at Betty Fuel Station, Budaka, with sharp knives, a blue tapeline, and missing rear seats, suggesting it was used to transport the stolen meat. Police are currently investigating the incident.

The police team, led by ASP Kamurali John, is continuing to track down the suspects involved in the theft.
