MBALE DISTRICT
With the high-octane January 15th general elections looming, the Office of the National Chairman (ONC) on Thursday, 8th January, 2026 shifted into high gear, deploying a sophisticated strategy to insulate President Yoweri Museveni’s votes from any electoral interference.
In a marathon day of mobilization, the ONC Coordinator for Mbale District, Andrew Allan Wokalo, descended upon the constituencies of Bungokho South and Bungokho Central. His mission was singular and unwavering: to transform presidential polling agents into a formidable “human shield” for the NRM flag bearer’s victory.
Throughout the intensive training sessions, Mr. Wokalo issued a stern clarion call to the recruits, emphasizing absolute loyalty. He moved to eliminate any ambiguity, declaring that these agents are commissioned to serve “only and only” one candidate the NRM powerhouse.
“Our task is to ensure that every single vote cast for President Museveni is counted, recorded, and protected with unwavering vigilance,” Wokalo remarked, charging the agents to remain eagle-eyed at the polling stations.
Adding weight to the mobilization, the Mbale Resident District Commissioner (RDC), Mr. Bayole, graced the event as the guest speaker. To allay fears of intimidation, Mr. Bayole issued a “iron-clad” guarantee of security, promising that the state apparatus will ensure a peaceful environment for voters and agents alike.
As the political temperature rises toward the 2026 polls, this aggressive grassroots operation in Mbale signals the NRM’s determination to lock down its stronghold and ensure a seamless path to victory for the incumbent.
