The National Unity Platform, (NUP) Party has suspended the Kyambogo University Guild President from the Party for attending a meeting with Col. Edith’s State House Investors Protection Unit.
According to the suspension letter dated 9th January, 2025 and signed off by Counsel Lemi Frank Angualia, spokesperson for NUP Institutions, Andama Emmanuel is suspended for 6 weeks with immediate effect, then attend a disciplinary committee proceedings to defend himself.
During the suspension, Andama is not permitted to represent, or speak for, or act on behalf of NUP in any capacity nor shall any of his actions or statements be construed as representing the Party’s position.
The suspension according to NUP is premised on the Party principles that, “We do not participate in, Endorse, or legitimize platforms that associate us with the regime that undermines democratic principles, represses dissent, and perpetuate unaccountable rule.”
Andama was elected Guild President under the NUP Flag after the dismissal of Akiso Benjamin, also a NUP member and now heading the NUP Institutions wing.
“As a recognized member of our Party and a leader elected under the NUP banner, Comrade Andama Emmanuel carries not only a personal mandate but also a political and moral responsibility to uphold the Party’s values and strategic positions at all times,” reads the suspension letter in part.
The meeting that has got Andama crossing paths with his Party leadership was also attended by the Makerere University Guild President, Churchill Ssentamu, UNSA Chairperson, Ainembabazi Sheilla and MUBS Guild President, Nabwire Rose.
According to State House Investors Protection Unit statement, this meeting took place on 6th January, 2026 with 36 student leaders whom they reminded that, “loving our motherland, Uganda, is expressed through service, discipline and responsibility. In every role we hold, the decisions and actions we take should strengthen peace, protect our sovereignty, and advance our country’s development — especially as we approach an exciting electoral period.”
