BUDAKA: Fatal Road Accident Claims 2 Lives, Leaves Several in Critical Condition

A fatal road accident occurred in Nankone, Budaka District, along the Mbale-Tirinyi road, claiming the lives of two individuals and leaving others seriously injured on January 13 , 2026, at around 6:00 AM.

 

The deceased have been identified as Esther Mbeiza , a 29-year-old female resident of Polota in Kakira, Butembe County, Jinja City, and Christopher Gobera, a 39-year-old male resident of Buunga Village in Budaka District. Both were passengers on a motorcycle registered as UEK 907J.

 

Those injured include Abu Huraila, 24, and Mutwalibi Mbulawe, 21, a student at Bugwere High School and resident of Nansanga Sub County. They are receiving treatment at Mbale Referral Hospital.

 

According to Wilfred Kyempasa, the Bukedi North region police spokesperson, the motorcycle was heading from Nansanga to Budaka with three passengers when it was hit from behind by a vehicle registered as UBK 871Z, which was traveling from Tirinyi to Mbale.

 

He says the police team, led by AIP Talunga Topista, District Traffic Safety Officer, visited the scene. The bodies have been taken to Budaka Health Center IV pending postmortem. The driver of the vehicle is still at large, and both vehicles are being held at Budaka Central Police Station pending inspection.
