Foreign Affairs Minister Gen Jeje Abubakar Odongo has invited investors to take advantage of the attractive policies established by the government, which are designed to benefit both them and the country.

Many have voiced concerns regarding security during the ongoing general elections.

Speaking to the media in his home county of Orungo in the Amuria district on Monday morning, Gen. Odongo emphasized that there should be no fear concerning security and policy changes in the country.

“Apart from a few isolated incidents, the general atmosphere in Uganda remains calm and peaceful,” he stated, urging investors to come and engage in this welcoming environment.

As the newly elected Member of Parliament for Orungo County, Gen. Odongo addressed rumors claiming his victory was not legitimate, insisting that allegations of electoral theft were unfounded.

He explained that, despite losing approximately 292 votes in Ogongora Sub County and Orungo town council, his support surged to about 3,757 votes in Akeriau Sub County alone.

“Even in my opponent’s home sub county of Ogolai, I won by over 560 votes. So how could I have stolen the elections if the figures tell a different story?” he remarked.

Gen. Odongo asserted that this election was a genuine victory, reflecting the people’s acceptance of a message of hope for their future that meets their basic social and economic needs.

He challenged those claiming that his supporters intimidated voters during the elections to provide evidence to substantiate their allegations.

Despite the East Kyoga region’s police branding Orungo as a potential hotspot in the Teso sub region, Gen. Odongo expressed gratitude to the residents of Orungo for conducting a peaceful and orderly election.

Gen. Odongo thanked the community for their confidence and support during the recent elections, committing to work collaboratively to fulfill the pledges he made during his campaign.

He mentioned initiatives such as providing iron sheets, motorcycles, and improving livelihoods, with the aim of ensuring that each family can earn between shs5m-Shs7m annually.

According to the recent results shared by Amuria District Returning Officer, Geofrey Wanyoto, Independent candidate Gen. Odongo secured a victory over his nearest competitor, Teddy Anyuk of NRM, with a lead of 4,431 votes.

Gen. Odongo received a total of 13,654 votes, while Teddy Anyuk garnered 9,223 votes. Other candidates included Fred Eseru from FDC with 212 votes, Nelson Esogu from NUP with 138 votes, and Stephen Opio from UPC, who received 81 votes.
