The National Unity Platform, (NUP) Deputy President for Northern Uganda, Dr. Lina Zedriga, has been arraigned before Gulu Chief Magistrate’s Court today, Friday, February 6, 2026 on charges of inciting violence.
According NUP Secretary General, Zedriga was finally produced at court after three weeks of incommunicado detention and remanded until Feb 17, 2026.
Meanwhile, other high ranking NUP officials like Jacklyn Jolly Tukamushaba also appeared before court in Kabale and remanded till the 24th. John Mary Ssebuwufu also appeared in Nakawa Court Kampala, charged with inciting violence following the disputed January 15 elections.
NUP leaders described the charges as bogus and trumped-up, pointing out that the three were allegedly abducted shortly after polls and held in secret despite official denials.
The cases highlight post-election tensions after NUP rejected results extending President Museveni’s rule, with Human Rights Watch noting over 2,000 opposition arrests amid deadly clashes.
