Bwayo Emma the LCV chairman elect for Namisindwa District has urged elected leaders to use fasting period for reconciliation and forgiveness.
Leaders elected to various positions have been urged to unite the people and use the ongoing fasting period to promote reconciliation and forgiveness, laying a strong foundation for effective service delivery. Anglicans and Catholics are observing the Lenten season, while Muslims are fasting during Ramadan.
The call was made by Bwayo Emma today, Thursday, February 19, 2026 during the burial of Catherine Nambuya in Buwangota, Namabya Sub-county, Namisindwa District.
Bwayo said it is embarrassing for leaders who won in the recently concluded elections to continue complaining about and warning those who did not support them. He emphasized that voters had the opportunity to choose candidates of their preference, and therefore there is no reason to hold grudges. He added that the fasting period should be used as a time for healing, reconciliation, and moving forward.
He further urged leaders to use public gatherings to promote government programs rather than discussing or threatening individuals who did not support them during the elections.
At the same event, Malemo George, the clan leader of Buwangota, asked newly elected leaders to serve diligently and remain mindful of the challenges facing their less privileged voters. He noted that the electorate has placed great trust in their leaders and should not be disappointed.
