NAMISINDWA

Namisindwa District Council is set for a competitive contest as nine councilors have declared their interest in the upcoming council speaker elections.
The aspiring candidates include Elderly Councilor Nasimolo Charles, Bupoto’s Ivan Tsebeni, Tsekululu Councilor Moses Waburoko, Nalyanya Micheal (representing the elderly), Mode Pius (Lwakhakha Town Council), Walimbwa Wilson (Buwatuwa Sub-County), Wasiuku Bosco (Magale Sub-County), and youth representatives Wamukota Sandra and Calvin Khaleke.
Nasimolo Charles says his extensive experience in local government makes him the leading candidate, while Wasiuku Bosco presents himself as a unifying force for the district.

Moses Waburoko urged fellow councilors to consider his leadership exposure, and Walimbwa Wilson highlighted integrity, experience, and public relations as key qualities for the role, promising to restore the council’s lost glory.
The incumbent speaker will not seek re-election, focusing instead on councilor contests. Similarly, the district woman MP, who lost during the primaries, is not participating.
The council is expected to swear in in May and that’s when the elections will be held, with the district watching closely to see who will take the helm.
