KABALE
Six (6) senior officials from Kabale District Local Government, and a contractor have been arrested over embezzlement of public funds.
According to the Office of the Inspectorate of Government, (IGG), the six were arrested today, Monday, March 2, 2026 and are expected to appear before the Anti-Corruption Court soon.
They have been identified as; Mr. Benon Kahangi, District Production Officer, Mr. Stephen Buregyeya, Senior Treasurer, Mr. Sixtus Ahabwe, Assistant Veterinary Officer, and Mr. Owen Atuhaire, Assistant Inventory Management Officer.
Others are; Ms. Pamela Musimenta, Assistant Agriculture Officer, Mr. Kwizera Wilson, Assistant Agriculture Officer, and Mr. Nicholas Karuhanga, Director Hummer Consults Co. Ltd.
The arrests were led by Noeline Nsungwa of the IGG Kabale regional office who says the arrests are a bold step that testifies to the institution’s commitment to eliminate corruption.
