A devastating incident rocked the community of Busambe village, Busambe parish, Bumbobi Sub County, Mbale District on Monday, 2nd March, 2026 after a 12-year-old boy, Wakooko Alex, a P.4 pupil at Naiku Primary School, took his own life by hanging.
According to eyewitnesses, the young boy had a misunderstanding with one of his elder sisters. The incident occurred while his mother was away at a nearby trading center, engaged in her small-scale business.
Distressed, Alex reportedly ran to his mother to report the incident, but she was unable to console him. He returned home and, in a tragic turn of events, hanged himself on a mango tree.
The body was discovered by locals who alerted Mbale Central police station. The police after doing their investigation, took the body to Mbale City Mortuary for post-mortem examination.
Nashimolo Lawrence, the LC1 Chairman of Busambe village, confirmed the incident, urging parents to prioritize their parental responsibilities and work together to prevent such tragedies.
