Police has arrested a man who has been masquerading as a Ministry of Works and Transport staff member to fleece citizens processing vehicle transfers and number plates.
According to a Ministry of Works and Transport statement dated Wednesday, 4th March, 2026, Richard Kalema, suspected to be a ring leader of a wider racket was nabbed by police on Tuesday, 3rd March, 2026.
The statement further confirms that Kalema confessed to impersonating Ministry of Works and Transport officials falsely promising to facilitate processing of motor vehicle ownership transfers, registration and acquisition of new number plates.
Kalema is currently being held at Jinja Road Police Station as Police widens investigations to arrest his accomplices.
