KAMPALA
The Uganda’s Deputy High Commissioner to Rwanda, Santa Laker Kinyera has died at Mulago National Referral Hospital. The news of her demise was confirmed today March, 4, 2026 by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
According to a statement issued by the ministry today, Ms. Kinyera passed on at Mulago Specialized National referral hospital, where she has been hospitalized for months over undisclosed strange illness.
“It is with profound shock and sorrow that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs announces the passing of our dear colleague Amb. Santa Laker Kinyera which occurred this morning at Mulago Specialized National referral hospital,” the statement reads.
Amb. Kinyera joined the Ministry of Foreign affairs in 1994 as a career diplomat and rose through the ranks. At the time of her death, she had been serving as Uganda’s Deputy High Commissioner in Kigali.
The ministry noted that details of funeral arrangements will be shared in the subsequent announcements.
