The organizing committee for a free eye medical camp in Bukedea has confirmed that the district is set to host the camp in memory of late Rajiv Ruparelia.
The Camp will be hosted for three days starting on 27th and ending on 29th, March 11, 2026 at Bukedea teaching hospital.
During the launch on Tuesday,10th March, 2026 at Kabira country club in Kampala, Speaker Anita Annet Among who presided over the launch and being the host revealed that the facility is set and ready to accommodate more than five districts.
“I want to thank and appreciate Ruparelia group for the initiative of offering free eye medical camp in particular my home district where I come from, I am ready as a host and pledge my full support,” said Anita.
Mr. Jyotsna Ruparelia, the director Ruparelia group of companies, said the camp will offer services to both the young and elderly.
“This will memorize my son Rajiv and I’m happy for this”, said Mr. Ruparelia.
Late Rajiv Ruparelia died in a car accident along Busabala road in May last year.
However, David Beecham Okwere, the Bukedea county Member of Parliament elect applauded the initiative saying the Bukedea people and the neighboring districts will freely access the service.
“We have people outside there who are not in position to access eye services but now with this free eye camp, they will be in position to be helped,” said MP Okwere.
Meanwhile, the services the camp will provide include eye checkups, reading glasses, children glasses, cataract screening and surgeries.
