KAMPALA: 4 Remanded For Using Fake US Dollars to Con Old Man of Shs170M

Fake dollars and UK Pound Sterling notes

Four suspects have been arraigned before the Wakiso Chief Magistrates Court on charges of theft, being in possession of paper intended to resemble currency notes, and conspiracy to commit a felony.

 

The four identified as Sendi Jamil, Juuku Anderson, Namuli Fatuma and Nalunjogi Jamilah were charged on Wednesday, 11th March, 2026 after being arrested by the State House Anti-Corruption Unit.

Fake Shillings and dollar notes

According to State House Anti-Corruption Unit, the suspects and others still at large conspired and stole Shs170 million from an old man, Ssekagya James who had just sold his land in Bulenga claiming that they would multiply the said amount by giving him dollars which was not the case.

 

The offences were committed in February 2026, at Bulenga and Buloba, in Wakiso District.

 

They were also found in possession of counterfeit currencies from different countries, namely; printed notes appearing as United States Dollars, United Kingdom Pound Sterling notes and Uganda Shilling notes without lawful denominations, totaling to over Shs45 million in 20,000 and 50,000 bills, which they had handed to Ssekagya James. They have been remanded until 18th March 2026.
