The territorial police of Iganga are hunting for a one Anthony Kalulu for allegedly murdering his mother. The deceased has been identified as Bakulimya Sylvia 56.
The incident occurred at Kasolo village, Bulamagi Sub County in Iganga district on Wednesday 11th March 2026.
Prior to the incident, Kalulu Anthony was allegedly seen by community members threatening his mother on top of demanding for a land sales agreement.
At around 03:00pm, the brother to Kalulu identified as Kawoma Edward sent his wife to go and check on his mother, but didn’t find her. Even Kalulu, her brother in-law, denied knowledge of the mother’s whereabouts. At 01:00am in the morning, Kawoma went to find out whether their mother had returned, but found the house locked.
He therefore asked Kalulu who was sleeping in his nearby home to open the house and upon opening, he found a heap of soil in the mother’s bed room with blood-stained items.
ASP Kasadha Michael, the Regional spokesperson for Busoga East said that together with the leaders and community members, Kawoma conducted a search and they found the cloths and bed sheets of the deceased in the pit latrine with blood stains.
On suspicion that his brother had murdered their mother, Kawoma reported to Iganga central police station. The body of Bakulimya Sylivia was recovered buried in her house with injuries on the head.
Exhibits including a panga, an axe and a stick with blood stains were recovered and the body was conveyed to Iganga hospital mortuary for postmortem. Further investigations are ongoing to establish more facts.
