Tororo Municipality Town Clerk Ayub Kisubi on Wednesday, 11th March, 2026 launched an extensive roadworks initiative aimed at revitalizing and maintaining key roads throughout the municipality.
Supported by a robust budget of 1 billion Ugandan shillings, this project signifies a crucial step in improving mobility and accessibility for residents.
The initiative, which will utilize both the designated road grant and additional funds from the Uganda Road Fund, is set to involve the installation of culverts, the opening of drainage systems, clearing of bushes, and grading of roads outlined in the financial year 2025/2026 work plan.
The undertaking commenced at the Juba Bridge in Bison Parish, where teams have begun installing culverts to ensure smoother traffic flow and enhance road usability.
Among the roads earmarked for maintenance are Nyangole, Kwapa Crescent, Olowo Otaba, Kwapa, Mission, Naleba, Majanga, and Agururu Lane, all critical routes for daily commuters and businesses in the area.
During the launch, Town Clerk Kisubi emphasized the importance of effective execution, urging the engineering team to deliver high-quality results that reflect good value for public funds.
“We expect nothing less than convincing works that benefit our community,” he stated, encouraging residents to support the engineering teams and provide a conducive environment for the works to proceed smoothly.
Kisubi also advised the public to anticipate disruptions in traffic flow as the roadworks progress, asking for their cooperation to minimize inconveniences.
He highlighted the importance of community engagement, encouraging residents to monitor the work closely to ensure accountability and quality outcomes.
Municipal Engineer Francis Okema elaborated on the maintenance strategy, noting that the road team would strategically move from parish to parish to ensure efficient execution and high-quality results.
Western Division Chairperson, Al-Jamal Manyadi welcomed the initiative and echoed the call for quality workmanship, reminding the public that well-maintained roads contribute to a better quality of life and economic growth in the municipality.
