The LCIII Chairperson of Mayanza Sub-County in Manafwa district is fighting for his life at Mbale Regional Referral Hospital after being involved in a motorcycle accident that also claimed a life of a 5 year old.
According to SP Rogers Taitika, the Elgon Police Spokesperson, the fatal accident happened on Monday, 16th March, at around 5:00 PM at Nekina Bridge along the Manafwa-Lwakhakha road.
He identifies the LCIII Chairman as 63-year-old Nambeki John who was riding motorcycle, registration number UG 4838R Honda that tragically knocked dead 5-year-old girl, Namakoye Ruth, resident of Busyula II Village, Khabutoola Parish, Khabutoola Sub County, and daughter to Mr. Milton Wolyawula.
Taitika says the Chairman was from the direction of Lwakhakha towards Manafwa at alleged high speed and that upon reaching Nekina, he allegedly knocked dead the child who was crossing the road.
He says the police have taken the motorcycle to Nangakwe police station for inspection while the body was taken to Mbale City Mortuary pending postmortem.
