MBALE CITY

Residents of Doko Cell, Doko Ward, in Mbale City woke up to a shocking scene on Thursday morning, 19th March, 2026 after a man’s body, estimated to be between 30-40 years old, was found dumped in a nearby Forest.

According to Dan Mukhono, LC1 Chairperson of Doko Cell, the body was discovered by locals who were going to their gardens early in the morning and informed him.

He says when he and others responded, they discovered the person wasn’t from their area and suspect he could have been killed elsewhere and the body brought there.

Mukhono adds that the body had cuts and injuries on the back, legs, head, and hands.

Peter Wanyenya, a local resident, has urged police and leaders to increase night patrols to reduce such incidents.

Police have taken the body to Mbale city mortuary for postmortem as investigations continue to identify the deceased and those responsible.

Rogers Taitika, Elgon region police spokesperson, couldn’t be reached for comment despite repeated calls by the time of filing this story.
