The head teacher of Bumageni Army Barracks Primary School, located at Bungokho Sub County in Mbale district has been summoned to Busoba Central Police Station to make a statement.

Samuel Wambi Sokoi’s summons ordered by the RDC, Stanley Bayole follow allegations of soliciting school fees at the government aided school.

While speaking to our reporter on Thursday morning, 19th March, 2026, Bayole said that he wrote to Wambi on March 11, asking him to respond by March 16 on the issue of charging fees ranging from 30,000/= to 100,000/= from each pupil.

The RDC alleged the fees are illegal, citing the president’s directive to stop charges at government primary and secondary schools, which receive free education funding. The RDC’s action followed complaints from parents during a PTA meeting about the fees collection.

The RDC says he’s asked police to summon Wambi, today, Thursday to make a statement and start investigating Wambi for defying the president’s directive.

Bayole told our reporter that school fees are only charged at private schools, adding that the government introduced free education at primary and secondary levels to help children from poor families’ access education and reduce school dropouts.

When contacted, Wambi declined to comment, saying he’s currently at Busoba police station making a statement and will comment later.
