Police in Kabale District have launched investigations into the death of a UPDF officer Sgt Robert Tumwesigye, who was found dead in his rented house at Mukokye along the Uganda – Rwanda border on Monday March 23, 2026.
The Kigezi Region police spokesman Elly Maate, said Tumwesigye’s lifeless body, who was attached to the UPDF 2nd Division and deployed at Mukokye in Maziba Sub County Kabale District as an intelligence officer was discovered on the bed in the morning hours.
Maate noted that the late Sgt Tumwesigye’s death was reported at Maziba police station by the area chairperson, one Christopher Nkaneziyo.
Maate further noted that prior the deceased had been reported missing for five days until his body was discovered on Monday in the house where he was staying alone.
Maate noted that the scene was visited and documented by a team from Kabale Police station, while the body was conveyed to Kabale hospital mortuary for post-mortem.
