The Uganda Police Force have revealed that 39‑year‑old Christopher Okello Onyum, who allegedly stabbed four pupils of Ggaba Early Childhood Development Centre to death on Thursday April 2, 2026 first feigned as a parent and paid admission fees before carrying out the gruesome murders.
Speaking to media at the murder scene on April 2, 2026, the Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokeswoman, Racheal Kawala disclosed that Onyu who is currently freezing in police cells prior to killing the innocent children, visited the school a day before and inquired about the school fees structures before returning to the school.
“Preliminary findings indicate that a few days ago, the suspect allegedly came to the school, Ggaba Early Childhood seeking for admission and he was told to go back to the school today (Thursday), he actually came with the admission fee and thereafter proceeded and attacked the innocent children, killing four of them instantly,” Kawala revealed.
The police identified the departed children as, Eteku Gideon, Kaise Alungat, Ignatius Sserwange and Ryan Odeke, all aged between 2-3.
The Police spokesperson Kituuma Rusoke has revealed that investigations are underway to establish killer’s motive to kill the toddlers.
“The Uganda Police Force extends its deepest condolences to the affected families and assures the public that all efforts are underway to ensure a thorough investigation and justice for the victims,” afande Rusoke consoled the bereaved parents.
Eyewitnesses Speak out
Eyewitnesses say the suspect feigned as a parent, he entered the school offices, where he briefly engaged the administrator in charge, he later stepped outside, locked the gate, and began attacking children one after another, leaving four dead.
Teachers quickly sounded the alarm, prompting the suspect to attempt to escape, however, he was apprehended by a security guard from the nearby Ggaba Community Church.
Moments later, angry residents reached the scene and attempted to lynch the suspect, but fortunately police intervened, rescued him, and bundled him on a police truck.
