COLLATERAL DAMAGE! Minister Closes 3 Ggaba Schools Following Kindergarten Kids Massacre

The State Minister for Higher Education, Dr. John Chrysostom Muyingo has ordered for the immediate closure of three schools in Ggaba, a Kampala suburb, following the gruesome murder of four children at Ggaba Early Childhood Development Center on April 2, 2026.

 

During his tour at the crime scene on Good Friday April 3,2026, Minister Muyingo said following security advice, three schools in the vicinity including;  Maranatha High School, Maranatha Primary, and Ggaba Early Childhood Development Center have been closed until further notice.

 

“The parents should immediately pick their children from these schools including nursery, primary and high school” he said.

 

Muyingo also ordered managers of Ggaba Day care center to record statements at police, so as to provide a comprehensive report on the events that culminated into the demise of the children.

 

“This centre should close with immediate effect until further notice,” Minister Muyingo ordered.

 

Minister Muyingo further tasked heads of education institutions to ensure they put in place all safety and security guidelines in place to ensure the safety of learners.

 

“Managers and leaders of educational institutions should make sure they enforce all these guidelines to the letter and ensure that our children are safe. The inspectorate is directed to do more, even if it means spending a little bit more, so that we know that our children go to school, they are safe and secure,” he said.

 

 

This week on Thursday April 2, 2026, the country was gripped with shock after a 39 year- old merciless Christopher Okello Onyum, hacked four pupils of Gaba Early Childhood Development Centre to death.

 

The police identified the infant victims who include three boys and one girl as Eteku Gideon, Kaise Alungat, Ignatius Sserwange and Ryan Odeke, all aged between 2 to three years of age.
