Fatal Accident Claims Two Lives in Mabira Forest

A fatal accident occurred on Tuesday at around 9:10 pm at Buwola in Mabira, Buikwe District, leaving two women dead and three others injured.

 

According to Hellen Butoto, police spokesperson for Ssezibwa Region, the accident involved a Toyota Harrier (UBE827M) driven by Isabirye Absolom, 43, and an Isuzu ELF (UBQ353D) whose driver fled the scene. Both vehicles were heading from Jinja to Kampala when the Isuzu ELF hit the Toyota Harrier from behind, pushing it into the water.

 

The deceased are Mutesi Hadijah, a resident of Gayaza, Wakiso District, and Kyokusima Annet, a resident of Lubowa, Wakiso District.

 

She says the injured, including the Harrier’s driver, have been identified as Nabakooza Sumaya, 34, Annet Nakyega, and Isabirye Absolom.

 

Butoto adds that the Victims were taken to Kawolo Hospital for treatment, and bodies were taken for postmortem. Both vehicles have been towed to Mabira police station pending inspection. The Isuzu ELF driver is still at large, and investigations are ongoing.
