The Equal Opportunities Commission has ordered Namisindwa District to stop the transfer process of Eddy Wesonga, the Namisindwa Town Council Town Clerk, pending investigation.
In a letter dated April 8, 2026, Habibu Seruwagi, presiding member of the commission, instructed the district to halt the transfer, which was initiated by the Chief Administrative Officer.
In an exclusive interview, Wesonga says he has received five letters from the CAO’s office in two weeks, accusing him of various baseless accusations.
He questions the timing, saying he was accused in 2023/24 of mishandling funds meant for projects in Magale sub-county in 2018 while serving their as sub county chief.
The allegations include frustrating an internal auditor’s review of a 10 million shilling discretionary equalization grant (DEG) for building latrines and a 50 million shilling construction project for Magale sub-county headquarters which he says he lobbied from ministry of local government among other allegations.
He says the office of the Chief Administrative Officer didn’t give him a hearing over the allegations before deciding to transfer him as punishment.
The town clerk adds that, after consulting his lawyers, Bagyenda and Co. Advocates, he approached the Equal Opportunities Commission and got justice.
He deems the transfer politically motivated, believing it’s because he supported Emma Bwayo for District LCV chairperson during the recent race and the district wants to replace his position with Anthony Kurima. (This publication has no evidence on this claim._ED
