The Electoral Commission has today, Tuesday, April 21, 2026 released a programme, for the by-election of the District Chairperson for Kikuube District.
The bye-election follows the untimely death of the incumbent, Peter Banura who passed away on April 4, 2026, following a road accident in which a speeding taxi struck him near his parked vehicle
According to EC, Stakeholders’ Meeting and Press Briefing will be held on 27th April, 2026 followed by update of the National Voters’ Register at the Parish Level between 28th – 30th April 2026.
Cutoff date for registration of voters and transfer of voting location in Kikuube District is 30th April 2026 while recruitment of officials to conduct Display of the Voters’ Register takes place between 27th – 29th April 2026.
Display of lists of recruited Display officials at the Office of the District Returning Officer and sub county headquarters will run from 30th April – 5th May, 2026.
Training of Display Officers, Voter Location Slips (VLS) Issuing Officials, Supervisors, and Issuance of appointment letters takes place on 7th May 2026 meanwhile display of Voters’ Register at Polling Stations in Kikuube District will run from 8th to 12th May 2026.
The two day nomination of Candidates at Kikuube District Headquarters will take place on 25th and 26th May 2026 with campaigns kicking off on 28th May to 8th June.
Polling Day and Tallying of results shall be on 10th June 2026.
The Electoral Commission calls on all stakeholders in Kikuube District to participate in the above activities in accordance with the guidelines for the by-election.
