The former Minister of Works and Transport, Hon. Monica Azuba Ntege has succumbed to cancer at the age of 72 years. The news of her demise was confirmed last evening on April 21,2026, by her fellow golfer, Hon. Jovia Namara, the former Entebbe NRM MP aspirant as well as the Lady captain for Entebbe Golf club.
She is reported to have died at Nakasero hospital in Kampala where she has been receiving treatment for cancer for months.
Minister Azuba was appointed cabinet minister of Works and Transport on June 6, 2016 replacing John Byabagambi. However, after one term in office, she was succeeded by Gen. Edward Katumba Wamala.

Azuba, is a professional engineer and public servant, who was appointed Minister of Works and Transport on June 6, 2016, replacing John Byabagambi, who was transferred to the Ministry for Karamoja Affairs. She was axed as a Cabinet minister on December 14, 2019, and succeeded by Gen. Katumba Wamala.
She was born in Busoga sub-region in Eastern Uganda in 1954. She attended Gayaza High School, where she completed both her O-Level and A-Level studies in 1973. She later joined Makerere University in 1974, graduating in 1978 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering.
After her graduation, she began her professional career at Uganda Commercial Bank. When the bank was acquired by Standard Bank in 2002, she was retained by the institution and rose in ranks to the position of Facilities Manager at Stanbic Bank Uganda Limited.
She also served as board member of the defunct Uganda National Roads Authority from June 2014 till her appointment to Cabinet in 2016.
