The National Citizenship and Immigration Control department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs has arrested 62 Nigerian Nationals in Adjumani for operating an illegal Church.
According to The National Citizenship and Immigration Control department statement dated 28th April, 2026, the Nigerians were arrested on Monday, 27th April, 2026 following a tip-off from concerned residents.
The Nigerians were particularly targeted because they were operating in Uganda without work permits.
“The group, primarily found operating a church among other things, is now being processed for prosecution under Uganda’s immigration laws,” reads the statement in part.
A resident commenting on the arrest says he saw the same group in Adjumani last year looking for a big dog to buy adding that they survive on church offerings.
The group is alleged to be using weird powers in their church and were actively recruiting worshippers to the extent of visiting hospitals.
