A team of joint security operatives led by the Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Directorate (CIID) have cordoned off former Speaker of Parliament Rt. Hon. Anitah Among’s residences in Kigo and Ntinda zone over allegations of money laundering and corruption. The raid was conducted on Sunday May 17,2026 and it was executed by masked armed security personnel.
The Sunday raids followed an earlier operation at her Nakasero residence on Saturday May 16,2026, as the probe into her alleged corruption and money laundering deepen.
It is reported that the ongoing operations are part of President Museveni-sanctioned probe into the politician over corruption and other alleged offenses, which authorities are yet to disclose publicly.
The search at Kigo has led to the discovery of several luxury cars, including the controversial Sha. 3.2 billion Rolls-Royce Cullinan 2025.
Credible sources indicate that nvestigators reportedly seized a mobile phone belonging to Among during Saturday’s raid at her Nakasero residence.
The source also disclose that forensic experts are expected to examine the device for communications, financial records, electronic transactions and other information that could help during investigations.
Former Speaker Anita Among is currently under house arrest, with movement in and out of the property becoming highly restricted, with personnel linked to the Special Forces Command maintaining close surveillance around the residence following overnight searches conducted by CID and other security agencies.
The operation which commenced on Saturday afternoon on May 16,2026, is said to have scrutinized documents and property linked to the former Speaker.
On Friday May 15,2026, the Inspector General of Government (IGG), Lady Justice Aisha Naluzze Batala, confirmed that the inspectorate is carrying out investigations on Speaker Anita Annette Among’s wealth, following a petition by concerned citizens about her luxurious lifestyle.
In similar news, Hon. Anita Annet Among has announced her withdraw from the speakership race saying she did it in good faith in order to maintain Unity within her party- the National Resistance Movement(NRM).
