The new Butaleja District Chairman, Elvis Weere, has named a new executive, promising periodic reshuffle in the near future.
Chairman Weere, on Monday, 18th May, 2026 named Augustine Damba, councillor for Kachonga, for Vice chairperson, Moses Hiire, of Busaba Sub County, as Sector Secretary for Education, Health, Trade and Tourism.
Allen Beatrice Weere, for Secretary in charge of Production, Works and social services; and Umar Mugoya (Umadee), as the Secretary for Finance.
Former District Hamila, challenged the competence of the appointees, but the district Chief Administrative Officer, defended the new executive: saying that whoever qualifies to the council-equally fits the executive position.
Augustine Damba, on his part stated that he studied upto the Advanced Level at Nkoma Secondary school, where he served as the head prefect, and named Mr. Kasim Magombe, the Butaleja district community development officer as his old boy, for witness.
The Butaleja Deputy District Resident Commissioner, Ms. Betty Lutamaguzi Kalumba, appreciated the outgoing leadership for their successes, and challenged the new council to embrace teamwork and good relationship with their voters.
