Same Mafabi the former speaker of Sironko district Council has emerged the official NRM party flag bearer for the same position.
Mafabi secured a decisive victory after garnering 36 votes against Hon. Kidasa Racheal’s 13 votes in the party elections held on Monday, 18th May, 2026 at Rose Wood Hotel, in Mbale City.
This overwhelming support is a clear demonstration of the confidence and trust that the NRM leadership and delegates have in his leadership, integrity, and ability to effectively guide the District Council.
Addressing the councillors at Rose Wood Hotel on Monday where election took place, Julius Nakiyi the Member of Parliament representing Budadiri East constituency in Sironko district praised Mr. Mafabi for his integrity, dedication, experience, and consistent service to the district, noting that his leadership has provided stability and institutional memory within the district council.
Nakiyi further thanked the councillors for the support they extended to him during his parliamentary campaign in Budadiri East and called upon them to continue working together in unity for the development and effective governance of Sironko District.
He emphasized the importance of electing leaders with proven records, commitment, and the ability to strengthen the functioning of local government institutions.
