SIRONKO
Nabende Guga, the new LCV Chairperson of Sironko District, has assumed office and declared war on individuals who have been illegally allocated plots on government land.
Sironko district has thousands of hectares of land at Mutufu Town Council, Sironko Town Council and at Budadiri Town Council but most of those plots have been awarded to developers.
Shortly after his swearing-in on Tuesday, 20th May, 2026, Nabende told hundreds of people and councillors at Sironko District Local Government that most plots were awarded without following proper procedures.
He said previous administrations allocated plots to technocrats, politicians, and others irregularly. Nabende announced plans for a probe committee to investigate how occupants acquired the land, instructing the CAO and RDC’s office to prepare records.
After the swearing in, the chairperson appointed Evelyn Nandudu female councilor representing Nalusala Sub County as vice Chairperson.
Other district executive committee members are Secretary for production and natural resources, Alie Madoi Makwasi councilor representing Buyobo Sub County, Secretary for finance and administration Gorret Nabugonde female councilor from Bumalimba Sub County and Mutufu town council then Secretary for social and community based services, Deo Nakisa Bulafu from Buchambi Sub County.
Sam Mafabi retained his seat unopposed as Speaker, with Samuel Wamayi from Sironko Town Council elected as his deputy.
In his speech, Mafabi urged councillors to work with technocrats for Sironko’s development.
